Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy Last updated: May 12, 2026

Introduction Trust My Gut (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use the Trust My Gut app.

Information We Collect

Personal information: First name, last name, and date of birth

Account information: Email address and password

Health & nutrition data: Meals logged, gut scores, mood check-ins, daily goals, manual vitals (sleep, activity, stress, energy)

Apple Health data (with your consent): Sleep, heart rate, workouts, stand hours, active energy, and heart rate variability (HRV) — read from any wearable or app you have connected to Apple Health, such as Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Garmin, Fitbit, and Strava

Quiz data: Health goals, conditions, allergies, dietary preferences, lifestyle information, coaching style preference

Device data: App usage patterns, device type (no personal identifiers)

Apple Health Integration

Trust My Gut integrates with Apple HealthKit on iOS to read health metrics from any wearable or app you have connected to Apple Health. This includes Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Garmin, Fitbit, Strava, and similar services.

What we read:

  • Sleep duration
  • Heart rate (live and resting)
  • Workouts (type, duration, calories)
  • Stand hours
  • Active energy
  • Heart rate variability (HRV)

What we do NOT do:

  • We do not write any data back to Apple Health
  • We do not modify, delete, or share your Apple Health records
  • We do not access location, medical records, reproductive health, or other sensitive Health categories
  • We do not transmit your Apple Health data to advertisers or data brokers

Your control:

  • You grant permission via Apple’s standard HealthKit permission prompt during onboarding
  • You can disable Apple Health integration anytime in Profile, which immediately stops the app from reading any Apple Health data
  • You can revoke individual permissions in iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Trust My Gut
  • Declining Apple Health access does not affect any other app features — you can log all vitals manually instead

How your Apple Health data is used:

  • Personalize Fiyah’s coaching responses based on how your body is doing
  • Tailor meal recommendations to your current sleep, activity, and recovery state
  • Power your daily home greeting and check-in notifications with relevant context
  • Display your daily vitals on the home screen

Location Information

Trust My Gut requests permission to access your device’s approximate location only when you actively use the Restaurant search feature within the app. We use this information to:

  • Verify the existence of restaurants you search for via Google Places
  • Return relevant nearby restaurant matches based on your current area
  • Provide accurate gut-friendly ordering guidance for the restaurant you selected

What we collect:

  • Your device’s approximate latitude and longitude at the moment you use the Restaurant search feature

What we do NOT do:

  • We do not track your location continuously or in the background
  • We do not store your precise location history
  • We do not sell, share, or transmit your location to advertisers, marketing partners, or any third party other than Google Places API (used solely to verify and return restaurant search results)
  • We do not link your location data to your identity for marketing or profiling purposes

Caching: Your approximate location is cached on your device for up to 10 minutes to avoid repeatedly requesting it during a single session. This cache is local to your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Your control:

  • You may decline location access at any time through your device’s Settings → Trust My Gut → Location
  • Declining location will only affect the Restaurant search feature; all other app features will continue to work normally
  • You can revoke location permission at any time without affecting your account or other data

Third-party data sharing for location:

  • When you search for a restaurant, your search query and approximate location are sent to Google’s Places API in order to return verified restaurant matches
  • Google’s use of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy)
  • We do not retain or store the queries or location data sent to Google after the search completes

How We Use Your Information

  • To personalize your nutrition recommendations and gut health insights
  • To power Fiyah, your AI wellness guide
  • To calculate your Soul Score and Gut Score
  • To send relevant push notifications about your health journey
  • To adapt meal recommendations and coaching to your daily Apple Health vitals (if you have granted consent)

AI Features & Third-Party AI Processing

Fiyah, our in-app AI wellness guide, is powered by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, PBC (“Anthropic”). When you use Fiyah or other AI-powered features, we send a limited set of your data to Anthropic’s API so their model can generate a response.

What we send to Anthropic:

  • The messages you send to Fiyah in chat
  • Meal descriptions and photos you log for AI analysis
  • Relevant quiz data (coaching style, dietary preferences, health goals, gut history) used to personalize Fiyah’s responses
  • A summary of your current Apple Health vitals (if you have granted Apple Health access) — sleep, heart rate, workout count, steps, stand hours, HRV — to enable real-time personalization
  • Anonymized context used to generate personalized push notifications

What we do not send to Anthropic:

  • Your email address, password, or name
  • Payment information
  • Your precise location
  • Raw Apple Health records or unprocessed health data (we send only a brief computed summary)
  • Any data from users who have not granted AI consent

Your consent is required. During onboarding we ask you to explicitly grant consent before any data is shared with Anthropic. AI features are disabled for users who do not consent, and you can revoke your consent at any time from your Profile settings. When you revoke, Fiyah and other AI features immediately stop working.

Anthropic’s protections. Anthropic processes this data under their Commercial API terms, which contractually guarantee:

  • Your data is never used to train Anthropic’s AI models
  • API inputs and outputs are retained for a maximum of 7 days before automatic deletion
  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections
  • Anthropic does not sell or share your data with additional third parties

You can review Anthropic’s privacy practices at privacy.claude.com.

Other Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever. Aside from the AI processing described in Section 5, we use the following trusted service providers to operate the app:

  • Supabase — secure database and authentication
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and billing status
  • Apple HealthKit — read-only health metric access on your device (data stays on your device unless you actively use a feature that requires AI processing, in which case a summary is sent per Section 5)
  • Google Places API — restaurant search verification (location only, used per Section 3)

These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services and are contractually bound to protect your information.

Health Data

Your health and nutrition data, including Apple Health metrics, is used to personalize your Trust My Gut experience. With your consent (see Section 5), summaries of relevant vitals may be processed by Anthropic’s AI to generate personalized recommendations, meal picks, and check-in notifications. We never share your health data with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else beyond the service providers listed in this policy.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing info@trustmygutapp.com. When you delete your account, we also stop any further sharing of your data with the third parties named in Sections 5 and 7.

Apple Health data is not stored on our servers — it lives on your device and is read only when needed. Disabling Apple Health access in Profile immediately stops the app from reading any new data.

Children’s Privacy

Trust My Gut is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can also revoke your AI data-sharing consent or Apple Health access in your Profile settings at any time. Contact us at info@trustmygutapp.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
